Calvary is an amazing school with the most caring and supportive staff. We've had three children attend Calvary, all beginning at age 2. I have become a big fan of the Montessori approach, but mostly I love that my children have been genuinely HAPPY and ENGAGED at Calvary. The classrooms are peaceful, orderly places where children cultivate respectful relationships, engage purposefully with classroom materials, and become self-directed and responsible young people. I also love the mixed-age classrooms (where children become leaders and learn from one another) and the 3-hour work period (where children direct their own learning, while also receiving support and instruction). The location next to the beach is unbeatable, and the children have frequent opportunities to engage with nature and outdoor play. Because teachers do not push worksheets, rote learning, or over-scheduled classroom activities, my children developed very positive feelings about school and are confident, empowered learners. They transitioned very nicely to elementary school, and we often receive feedback from teachers about their eagerness to learn and their respectful, responsible nature. I can recommend Calvary highly enough--great teachers, great families, and great updated facilities. I also feel that it is a solid value for the quality of care you receive. I encourage you to go for a visit and see if this is the right environment for your kids, too!
