School Notes
- Established in 1977, the International School of Denver is a bilingual, immersion, International Baccalaureate World School for preschool through 8th grade students with programs in Chinese, French, and Spanish. The International School of Denver exists to create a more compassionate and curious world, one student at a time.
- Mission: Our inclusive, globally-minded community develops compassionate, highly motivated, and academically successful bilingual learners who make positive contributions in a complex world.
- Bilingualism is our foundation. Walk our halls and you will hear students and native-speaking faculty engaged in accredited curricula from France, China, Spain, and the IB. Research shows that bilinguals exhibit higher academic achievement in math, reading, and language usage; greater cognitive function; and are ultimately more effective communicators. Most importantly to us, language acquisition develops more compassionate and empathetic world citizens.
- Not just a school, but a global community. We shine brightest at our school-wide cultural events like our International Harvest Festival, Night of the Dragon Tales, and Viva el Dragn, all of which enrich our learner and families` experiences and celebrate our diversity.
- We are also the only school in the Denver region that offers 5th-grade learners the opportunity to study abroad, in China, France, or Spain, where they are immersed in the cultures and communities of their target language programs.
- We are proud of our racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, and socioeconomic diversity, all of which make ISDenver a true microcosm of the world. You belong here.

As parents who have watched our children blossom at ISDenver since pre-k, we can confidently say it's an exceptional international school. It's more than just academics, it's a nurturing environment that fosters a love of learning and a global perspective. This became especially clear when our children spent two years in France during the pandemic. While the experience of living abroad was invaluable, upon returning to ISDenver, we saw a remarkable shift. The warmth and welcoming nature of the school truly shone through. I will also say that our children were able to attend French schools while in France, thanks to their years in ISDenver's French program! They are bilingual. Two of my kids are now in high school and are thriving. ISDenver did a great job preparing them academically. We will miss the school once our youngest graduates from middle school!

I had one child attend ISD for 11 years from K1-8th grade and currently have another in his 7th year at the school. My daughter is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Mandarin. She applied to and was granted admission to all three private schools to which she applied. She is currently in 9th grade and feels like she is at a commensurate ability or ahead of her peers from other schools in math, reading/writing, and language. My son, who is currently in fourth grade is very engaged at school and looks forward to attending each day. This is no small feat!ISD has made a point about increasing its emotional and well-being staff to support its students, which provides a tangible benefit to the educational and emotional growth process that is often overlooked, but has become a best practice at independent schools. As a biased parent, I find that ISD students are uniquely engaged listeners and active participants in conversations in ways that other similarly aged students are not.

Our child has been at ISDenver since pre-school, and we love this school! Aside from the language immersion, IB Programming is crucial in choosing this school. Our child has had some learning challenges, and the school has made 100% accommodations to meet our child where they are. We have seen tremendous changes in attitude, learning, and confidence. We love the school's global diversity and the overall mindset of inclusivity.

We have been exceptionally thrilled with the International School of Denver. They navigated through COVID wonderfully. We know that our child is getting a top-notch bilingual education that teaches diversity, kindness, and a global perspective. All of the teachers have been amazing in how they teach, understand each child's needs, and exude love. We are so fortunate!

I am more and more grateful that my kids are at ISDenver. As parents who came all the way through grad programs in public schools, we honestly weren't looking for a private school. But this school came into our radar, and we were immediately drawn in. Hearing my kids walk up to complete strangers who they hear speaking Spanish, and interacting with them comfortably, is amazing (that started in kindergarten!). Even better is the way they are learning: by asking questions, by informing the directions of the lessons (they are routinely asked what they want to learn more about), and by learning about the entire world full of culture, language, and so much more. Art lessons flow into music lessons flow into Spanish lessons, flow in English lessons. It's truly my hope for the future - I wish every child could learn this way.

Our daughter has been at this school for 11 years, started when she was only 2 1/2, and there has been no other education that could come close to what she has received here; both academically and emotionally. She has always been pushed and always acknowledged for her strengths. With the differentiation in the classroom, the immersion in the lower school and the IB in the upper school, the education at ISD is unparalleled. The social, emotional aspect and the classroom curriculum is very strong in creating compassionate globally minded citizens, one strong in communication in multiple languages and strong in math and science. This is the gem of Denver!

I have two kids enrolled in ISDenver's French program and couldn't be happier. The quality of the education they are provided, along with the emotionally supportive environment are a perfect combination. We have been extremely impressed with all of the school's faculty and other staff. The love and attention my kids receive each day is incredible. We love the language aspect of the school, but the real reason we fell in love with the school was for the genuine international feel of the school community and the diversity we see daily in our kids' classrooms.

The school is very very strong in the Upper grade levels making us wonder whether or not one day there will be a High school. We are happy with the challenge our daughter receives in Math - the teacher pushes her students to achieve the very best she is capable of attaining. The school uses a platform called ManageBac - it is very very good.
