- Join a school community where learning differences aren't so different.
- In 1956, Miriam School was established to serve children with developmental disabilities. Following the establishment of Special School District and other public school special education programs, Miriam School's focus changed in 1962 to serve children with complex learning disabilities.
- The school program at our Lower/Middle School is designed for children in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade who need more support because of their learning challenges. With a low student-to-teacher ratio and a collaborative learning approach, students find an environment full of possibilities. At Miriam School, learning is designed to meet the unique social, emotional, physical, and academic needs of each student.
- Upon realizing that there was no other high school in St. Louis that could provide the services Miriam provided for grades K-8, leaders determined they must open a high school for students with complex learning challenges. Opened in fall 2016 and now located in Olivette, Miriam High School continues Miriam's tradition of focusing on the whole student through small group instruction, caring teachers, and specialized curriculum. With a low student-to-teacher ratio and a collaborative learning approach, students find an environment full of possibilities. Graduates are equipped with not only a transcript, but a portfolio of skills that will ensure their success as they move on to college, vocational training or the workforce.
- Miriam Learning Center provides services to students ages 2 to 18 who wish to remain in their current educational environment but need specialized in-school or after-school support services to meet their potential.
- Miriam Learning Center partners with area schools to place special education professionals on an as-needed basis, allowing the schools to provide specialized services for children who learn differently. We also offer a wide variety of services in house, including IQ, academic and psychological testing, tutoring, in-school supports, counseling, behavior support, and occupational, speech/language, music and physical therapy. The Learning Center opened in September 2007 and currently serves more than 1,600 students per year.
