School Notes

  • In 1996, a small group of friends sat around a kitchen table to dream of a radically new type of school in Indianapolis. They envisioned a school that would serve children from diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. Two years later, this visionary group of founders launched The Oaks Academy.
  • What began more than 25 years ago, with just 53 students, has grown into a thriving urban educational community serving over 1,000 students at three campuses each year.
  • We are a Christ-centered school that exists to provide a rich, classical education to children of diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. At The Oaks Academy, we prepare students to succeed in rigorous secondary educational programs and help them develop spiritual, social, and emotional maturity. Our time-tested curriculum integrates ideas from all disciplines to create an immersive experience that allows students to develop a love of learning. With the addition of habit formation, which provides a firm foundation for strong executive function skills later in life, our curriculum is designed to develop the whole child.
  • Since one of our foundational beliefs is that every child is created and uniquely gifted by God, we are committed to small class sizes that allow our faculty to know and love all students for their unique gifts and talents. This also allows our educators to challenge or support each student in individual areas of strength or weakness.
  • Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision and we know you may have many questions. We encourage you to contact the Admissions Office whenever you have questions or concerns throughout the admissions process. We are happy to help over the phone at (317) 610-0880 or by email at admissions@theoaksacademy.org.
